A New Beginning

Hello fellow SD'ers,

The blog has been down for a while, but it's now back with a vengeance.

SD has accumulated a total of 15 points to date. After a slow start to the season, SD is now ridding a 5 game winning streak. Team morale is high, the engine is firing on all cylinders, and we're having fun again. 3 games left till the playoffs. Next week a double header.

Team record is 5 wins and 2 losses. After last nights skuuunking of FusionArc 13-3, SD should have all 4 defencemen in the top 10, and many forwards leading the way in the top 20. Official results will be published on the web as of Sunday evening.

The team has a new identity this year. Some familiar faces that have been around for a while decided to part ways this summer.

Big Lex is as solid as ever guarding the mesh.

The Defence is strong and productive, the work horses to say the least.

The forwards....what can i say?... If this were chemistry class you'd all be getting an 'A'! It's a beautiful system you play.

And about the system....A shout out to everyone who attended the dinner. Honorable mentions to Fuzzy for proposing the system. This is a team game boyz, SD - 4 - LIFE

At 9:30pm, the ball will be dropped at center ice and the battle will have begun.  It's the first battle in a war that will require us to bleed, sacrifice, scream, and fight for our playoff lives.  There are no individual soldiers on SD...we are an army and we strike as one.

Do not be intimidated !

What we have here is a simple task at hand! Victory boys, VICTORY!! Nothing less Nothing more

A great DEFENSE make an unstoppable OFFENSE!!

Like we've heard many many times.. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS This does not include only defensmen ladies & gentlemen , this includes the whole team , the whole system the whole shabang....

LETS STAY FOCUSED OUT THERE TONIGHT!!

Anyways, I'll be there....fucking pissed cause its fucking late!  But none-the-less....i breath, eat, piss, and shit S's and D's...so do i really have a choice?  Negative!

MMMQB

Mike's Monday Morning Quarterback brought to you by Rib and Reef and Showtime Video.

First lets take a look at last weeks games.  On Monday night the Sharks won their playoff game.

On Thursday night, SD Ball won their regular season game by a score of 5-4.  I must point out that Fuzzy fucked up both his elbows.  I repeat, Fuzzy fucked up both of his elbows...but at the cost of scoring a beauty penalty shot goal.....le tir le but!!!!

Friday night, SD Ice lost their first playoff game 5-2.  It was like they were skating in molasses.  The chemistry just wasn't there on a night when the SD Ice were heavily favored to win.

This week line up is as follows.  The Sharks play their second playoff game tonight at the MHL 4 Glaces facility.  I win would position them nicely for the a birth in the finals.

SD Ball plays their final regular season game on Thursday at 11:30pm, damn that's late!  SD will be facing the Slicks, who are currently sitting in the 20Th slot with a shameful 4 wins.  Let's not take this game lightly boys, lets mercy the fuckers so that we can go to bed early!

SD Ice plays their second playoff game on Friday at 8:15pm vs the Hawks.  This is a must win game, cause if we lose again our birth in the finals is very unlikely.

I'd like to wish everyone good luck in the playoffs.  SDSDSD

SIDE NOTE: Benny Bettman is thinking about organizing SD Ball indoors at PTM during the Summer as opposed to outdoors.  Please let us know your opinion, preferred days to play....and what not.

Game #19

Thursday at 6:30pm SD vs FAT ROY.  means traffic for one and all.

FAT ROY currently sits in 9th place with 34 points.  SD is right behind in the 10th seed with 30 points.  A win would not propel SD into a higher seed but it will build confidence going into the playoffs.

FAT ROY  have 3 potential threats averaging almost 2 points per game.  It will be solid D and high octane offence that gets SD the win.

Leave the wife and kids at home and let's go looking for fucking dinner!

FYI: HABS CANONS AND BEERS AFTER THE GAME!  STICK AROUND FOR A GOOD TIME!

SD lose in see-saw battle

With a win SD could have leaped in the standings.  But the good guys lost a 4-3 decision and halted their win streak at  5 games.  SD goal scorers on the night...Bertucci, Kounadis, Kamateros.  Big Lex played a solid game in net... a better team effort in front could of changed our fate.

With two more regular season games scheduled before the Big Dance, SD still has a chance to move up in the standings.

FINAL STRETCH

Here it is guys.. Our final 3 games of the regular season..We are currently sitting in 10Th place with 30 pnts.. Places 9 threw 5 are separated by only 4 pnts... Fair to say that our destiny lies in our own hands.. Not to mention that we are currently riding a 5 game wining streak and we've been playing inspiring hockey as of late... Our next 2 games are against teams that are currently siting in 7th and 5th place..Stealing points from these teams could guarantee us a top 7 finish....The PYTHONS ( march 5th 7:30pm @ SportsXxpo) are uncomfortably sitting in 7th place with 32 pnts.. Need i say that its a must WIN!! YES ME I DO!!!

LETS STAY FOCUSED AND KEEP PASSING THAT BALL LIKE WE'VE BEEN DOING AS OF LATE..

Krazer McKrazed Joins blog team!!!

Another member has joined the team.

We'd like to welcome Phil Muri #95.

He is creative Director

#91 scores twice in SD Ice win

Pierrefonds, Qc – #91 scored twice (and might have registered some helpers, too) in a strong Special Delivery win in last night's MHL contest against the Rockin' Moroccan Allstars. Sensing he needed to shake things up a bit, the team captain switched to a slightly shorter stick midway through the first period. Rumors of changing stick sponsors from RBK / CCM to Bauer / Nike are still unconfirmed.

Today's Special

SD ICE won last night 6-4 against the Rockin Morrocan Allstars.

If you have a chance, take a look at Today's Special. The first clip...DRAMATIC ENDING VEGAS GWG is 2 min and 34 seconds of dramatic hockey. The winning goal from last week's intense match up.

Quick re-cap... Andy has the original break away but gets injured. Vegas takes penalty shot and then redeems himself a minute later to win the game.

WELCOME #83

In true SD fashion... the blog is expanding. I would like to welcome Anthony Kolias as the newest Author to the SD-4-LIFE blog. Stay tuned for his upcoming articles.

This is a team blog...if anybody wants to contribute, please let me know.

It's thursday and there is no ball hockey :(

Does anyone else feel a little lonely today? It's thursday and there is no ball hockey. That is like heaven without god....hell without the devil....ice cream without a sunday....somethings just don't make sense.

I'd like to invite all partisans to the Quatre Glace Arena to cheer on the SD ICE @ 10:15pm. The rink is located on pierrefonds BLVD....you must turn left when on St-Jean. Even though I'm sure the majority of you wont show...the least i can do is invite.

In other news...Anthony Kolias has just signed a new 10 year deal with a no trade clause for the SD Ball hockey team. When asked about his recent signing, Anthony said "I'll fucking kill you... roll a tzack". Needless to say, the conversation stopped there and we rolled a fat bat and smoked ourselves silly.

Habs VS Pitts tonight...any predictions?

See ya in the dressing room

Rumors???

I have my sources...i am told in confidence...don't ask me how, don't ask me why...just take it for what is it.

It is rumored that Montreal Dangler Alexi Kovalev is on the trade block. Gainey is asking a high price for this All star MVP but teams are interested. One franchise that is reportedly "AGGRESSIVELY" pursuing the rights to Kovalev is Special Delivery. It isn't sure yet if Kovi is being looked at for Ice or Ball....but either way this skilled Offensive Forward would be more then welcome in the dressing rooms.

It isn't sure what names would be in the fold for Montreal, but I am thinking that a coveted SD FORWARD and GOALIE WOULD BE IN THE MIX. Does Kounadis sound like Kovalev? How about one Alexi for another......???? Maybe a package deal??? All i know is what my sources disclose...stay tuned for more. This is getting very interesting!

W-W-W

Wins all across the board last night.
SD Ball won in OT thanks to the heroics of Nick Macro. A blistering back hand tucked itself where momma keeps the peanut butter....top shelf baby! Another solid performance by the goalie and a team effort all round. After a 3-0 lead in the first, SD allowed the No Damn Good Choppers back in the game with three consecutive goals. It only took 45 seconds of extra time for the SD to pick up the slack and put this one to bed. Another victory, another point, one step closer to the big dance.

In other leagues, SD ICE won an incredibly tight game last night by a slim margin of 3-2. Mike Bertucci opened the scoring with a bread & butter move that turned the goal tenders jock strap inside out. Toti scored on a blistering slapshot from the point to put SD up by two and John Hared Vegas scored on a break away to put the game on ice. Goaltender Jocelain Fontaine was Pierre's monster performer of the game, turning away 32 shots while standing on his head.

The affiliate, The Sharks, won their contest 6-3. Andrew Moreau lead the way with two goals and a couple of assist. Goaltender Dan Suissa was solid in net stopping 28 of 31 shots while flashing the leather regularly and adding a little mustard on the side.

BULLSEYE OFF TARGET!

WAS THAT ST-PATRICK OR BIG LEX LAST NIGHT??? Big Lex the Goalie put in a strong performance to earn his first shutout of the year. "I've been working on my ball tracking and Laterals but the D really helped me out tonight" said Big Lex with a smile after the game. The D had a solid game, Sharp Shooter Kolias put his glove hand to work with the save of the night when he bailed out Big Lex by swatting an errant ball headed for the mesh. "That's how we do" replied SS Kolias when asked about his performance. All star Angelo, sporting a black eye, and Versatile Tuc both contributed offence by potting a goal and an assist each from the back end. The first goal of the contest was buried by the Macro Express...who is blessed with soft hands and lightning fast feet.

It was complete game. SD played as a team and won as a team.

SD 6 - 3 Stickmen

After an o-3 start to the season, SD has rebounded with an impressive 7-2-1 record in the past 10.

January 29th, 2009,

The Stickmen came out strong and got a quick goal. SD responded with a powerful blow to the head, led by the explosive performance of Fuzzy, notching 4 quick goals. The crease was tended by Big Boy Lex and he turned aside 23 shots, for a sparking .88 save percentage. Late in the second, All Star Angelo got struck in the face by a wild shot and went down with a bloody nose. The SD medical staff tended to the All Star and he returned to action with a hint of blood red to complement the baby blue jersey.

All in all, the win was a team effort. Defensive minded with seamless transition to offensive pressure, led SD to a victory over a lackluster Stickmen.

Many thanks to the suspended Steve Re Malaka for supporting his team and opening the bench door.

The Story

This is my story about Special Delivery...

The bonds that are created on the battlefield are special. It all started with a bunch of friends and friends of friends playing pick up hockey at the Greek gym. Nobody knew each other that well and we participated in some fisty cuffs and mini brawls. But in this case the blood that was shed led to blood brothers. After about a year of playing, the most committed players entered a team, Special Delivery, into a league based out of St-Rose. This was very far from the city and the only highlight of the area was an amazing strip club that was frequented before and after games by members of the team. Unfortunately the strip club is now a parking lot...but life goes on. After our first season in St-Rose, which coincided with Tampa winning the Super Bowl, our hunger for hockey grew. We were referred to the league Allstar, which was an outdoor league during the summer. SD registered to play and SD went through a season of growing pains. It was a rough start but we kept our heads high and we learned to play together. The next season, we trimmed our roster and added some muscle. It was during this season that SD went from childhood to adulthood. We barely made the playoffs and it was during the big dance that the teams chemistry was forged. We blew away all of the favored opponents and met the Dirty Dawgs in the finals. It was a hard fought battle...but we lost the series in 2. They were more experienced, hungrier, and stronger. The next season we played indoors and picked up right where we left off. We finished the season 15-5 and came 13 seconds away from taking home the first SD ball championship. I can't get into it right now...because it still hurts. The seasons since then have been tough to swallow. Always great during the season but we'd hit a wall in the playoffs. But it's okay because SD has evolved and grown every year. SD ball was the original franchise but since then it has won a championship in Ice hockey and solidified two minor league teams for ice and ball.

SD has become more than just a team. It has become a network of friends playing ball hockey and ice hockey. Over 100 people have worn the SD colors whether it be ice or ball. We have lost important members since the birth of the franchise but there is always new blood coming in from the minors. Once you play a season with SD you are SD.

Presently, the team is alive and well...bigger and better then ever.
